The brief

Wave Financial hosted a summer staff party at the Royal Ontario Museum in downtown Toronto, timed to coincide with the “Fantastic Beasts” exhibit based on the Harry Potter series. I created a full suite of themed event collateral under the “Not everything is as it seems” theme, pairing Wave’s branding with dark, peacock-feather imagery inspired by the exhibit. The suite included table numbers, menus, name badges and personalized place cards. The event was a huge success.

The challenge

The main challenge was maintaining and organizing all the data needed for the personalized pieces. Using variable data in InDesign, I set up a workflow that pulled in each guest’s name, department and menu selection, including dietary restrictions, and automatically populated the badges and place cards for print. That kept hundreds of individual pieces accurate and consistent, without manually typesetting each one.
